Shop: JCPenney x Joe Fresh Kids

Joe Fresh is partnering with JCPenney to bring you a fun fresh collaboration in kidswear today and tomorrow in the heart of Times Square. Just in time for the Back-to-School season the event is held in a live orange grove with plenty of family-friendly activities including kid friendly games, popsicles and a family photo booth! If you get there early, photos will be on display on a billboard in Times Square from 10am-2pm today.

100% of the proceeds from the event will be donated by JCP to Adopt-a-Classroom.

Bauble Bar Pop-Up Shop in Soho

Have you been to Bauble Bar's pop-up shop in Soho yet? Before wedding madness took over I had a chance to stop by last month to take a peep at the online e-tailer's spacious set-up on Greene Street.

Whether you're looking for that great statement necklace or just some every day essential, there's a lot to covet at at the pop-up. If you have questions about buying costume jewelry online, this is your perfect chance if you're in the NYC area to see the goods in person. The pop-up shop will be featuring the same items that are available online through August 13, 2013. 

In addition to jewelry, there are a number of fun events happening and the next one features one of our favorite crafty ladies, Jenni Radosevich of I Spy DIY. So if you're around this Wednesday, July 17th, stop by for a chance to DIY with Jenni, sip Godiva cocktails and receive a complimentary leather pouch for attending. Now Playing: The Lone Bellow

When I first heard of the band The Lone Bellow back in January I was intrigued because they were described as a Brooklyn Country band.  Country music. In Brooklyn. Really? I couldn't help the initial picture in my head of twanging music, big hair and cowboy boots.

So I had to find out more and as I always do, I jumped onto Spotify and was immediately charmed by the song, "Green Eyes And A Heart of Gold". Who wouldn't relate to the lyrics, "You're broke in New York City, the F train takes us home...", especially if you happen to live off the F train as I do. Soon afterwards I found myself humming the addictive and catchy, "You Don't Love Me Like You Used To".

While I am fan of folk and bluegrass music, I have a hard time calling myself a country music fan. But if this is country music, perhaps I am changing my mind because I am a fan of The Lone Bellow.  Perhaps because the band members, lead singer/songwriter Zach Williams, guitarist Brian Elmquist, and singer Kanene Pipkin, are Southern transplants who live in Brooklyn. I can relate to the soul searching, the growing pains, the words of betrayal, tragedy and in the darkness hope.

I encourage you to check them out, there is not a song on their debut album that I don't like. If you like what you hear you can see them live with Ivan & Alyosha at Santos Party House on April 18, 2013. I've got my tickets!

Chinese American Experience: 2nd Annual YPX Gala

The Young Professionals of MOCA (Museum of Chinese in America) are having their second annual gala tomorrow evening. My friend and I attended the event last year, and we had a good time - met some nice people from a mix of industries and enjoyed some tasty dim sum. This year's sponsors include Absolut, Dim Sum Go Go, Nom Wah Tea Parlor, and Red Egg!

I'm not Chinese, but I can appreciate a celebration of culture and heritage. Proceeds from the gala will to benefit programming and events at MOCA to educate on the Chinese American experience.
