Sample Sale Report: Lee Angel

If I seem a little M.I.A. lately I have been. It's just 9 days until I get married so I've been filling my time with anything but sample sales and crafting up a DIY storm in my spare time. However as history has taught me some sample sales are too good to be missed and I stopped by the Lee Angel Sample Sale in Soho last night to find great prices on the signature collection in addition to bargain basement pricing on a plethora of other accessories. Winning!

The Lee Angel signature collection which usually tops $150 per piece was at the best price that I can remember seeing it with necklaces for $20, Bracelets for $15 and Earrings for $10. At a sale when nothing tops $20, you can afford to get carried away.

The Lee Angel collections featured had a black heavy group, a multi color ethnic group, a frosted silver heavy group, a glittering gold group and a pearl group.

As for everything else at the sale? The world is your oyster with most everything from necklaces, earrings and bracelets at just $5 a pop.

Statement bib necklaces in smoked crystal beads, faux pearl baubles and chain link items that are made for the likes of "Loft", "J.Crew" and "Gap" are now just $5 each. Most items are not marked but in the rare case that you find a tagged item, they snip the tag before purchase.
If  $5 a pop is too steep, they have even cheaper offerings available with items from American Eagle at 2 for $5! Seriously it doesn't get much better than this. I ended up buying some fun baubles to use for my wedding's photobooth that had a "Great Gatsby" feel, including glittery headband and a feather necklace here.

Sample Sale Report: Siwy Denim

I stopped by the Siwy sample sale and was surprised by how small the sample sale was. I have been to all sorts of sample sales in my life but the two lonely racks at Siwy may have been one of the smallest sales I've been to. Despite this there were quite a few lunch time shoppers trying to snag some sexy denim at 40% below wholesale.

Sizes ranged from 24-27 with most selection in the size 24/26 range. As far as I could tell each item was marked on a tag with selling price and seemed to be about $80-87 per item.

So if you're a huge Siwy fan and in the size 24-27 range, it's worth stopping by but there isn't very much stock so go soon. Otherwise it's a rather small sale that may not be worth the effort.

Isabel Marant x H&M

Sample Sale Report: Helmut Lang

Stopped by the Helmut Lang sample sale after work tonight. With the promise of a free bra top with purchase and an additional 30% off sample sale prices this promise to be a good one. As with all Clothingline sales there is mandatory bag and coat check although they do allow you to keep a small purse with you. The fitting rooms closed 30 minutes before the sale ended with warnings for last call to get in line. The line looked plenty long even with the 10 item per person restrictions.

As for the goods I saw size petite/0 to a size Large/10 at the sale. Sizes 0, 4, 8 and 10 offered the most selection.

There were plenty of sexy dresses in jersey, signature print and leather trim.

I loved the bold printed blazers $140 and Ponte jacket priced at $99! I think it was originally $579. Jeans are very gently priced at just $56 a pop and come in size 24 to 32.

Sweaters and tees are kept behind a table and displayed on the wall. Staffers will give you a sample to look at for handfeel and sizing but you are not allowed to try the items on. The staff will take the items you want straight to the register filed on a shelf by your name. The system ensures these items don't get mangled or coated with makeup and staffers give you freshly packaged items that haven't been touched. Tees are $28 and sweaters are $56.

And how do you know prices are good? I picked up a couple pieces and managed to score one of the last 3 free bras (which retail for $90) they were giving away. I snagged a mesh side tank top for $28 and a open knit sweater for $56. Sorry ladies, as far as I know there is no more free gift with purchase available, but who knows? Maybe they will come up with something else for the last day.

If you are a Helmut Lang fan, there is still plenty of merchandise available! And for most part everything looked to be in great condition and neatly organized by size and style.

Sample Sale Report: Current/Elliott, Joie, Equipment

Last night I had the opportunity to stop by the Joie, Equipment and Current Elliot Sample Sale for the VIP night. What I learned was that you can find jeans for women from Current/Elliott from size 23-32 in a multitude of patterns, colors and textures. However if you are looking for Joie or Equipment merchandise you will be out of luck if you are looking for anything other than a size small. When going to the sale, please note that you'll have to check in your bag and your coat but the guys are fast and you can get through that process rather quickly.  The fitting rooms on the other hand can get very busy and you'll have to most likely be prepared to wait in line. I believe there is a 5 item limit per person so the line moves.
 
For Equipment as you can imagine, although there are a few other items it's all about tops, tops, tops! If you are looking for signature silk blouses those were few in proportion to cotton wovens although there were more silk versions in the sleeveless section. There is just about every color of the rainbow available and some prints that are super fun while others look a bit dated. At $50 a pop it is a fraction of what they cost at retail. As I mentioned earlier, just about everything is a size Small.  There was a silk cat print that I thought was quite fun and the landscape toile that I thought would make a great addition to any wardrobe.

For Joie there was a small selection of fur coats and vests which are priced great for $150 a pop. There weren't many pieces however, just a mongolian lamb jacket in cream, a vest in cream as well as grey. Leather skirts and jackets were also marked as $150.

I also liked the graphic cardigan priced to sell at $25! There was a very Great Gatsby-esque skirt with beading for $60. The silk dress with the great motorcycle print above is from Equipment and was $75.

Accessories were very well priced but there were not very many items. Sandals are $36 and sizes seemed to range from 7-10 for these shoes. My particular favorite piece was the colored block booties in Navy/Tan but I only saw 8 1/2-10 1/2 in these. The all black suede/leather bootie had one lonely pair of size 5 but the right foot was too tight for me, otherwise I would've snagged them for $50. There were also a few color block totes and small leather bags but none of them really caught my eye.

Last but not least let's talk Current/Elliott. There were rose patterned jeans, floral patterned jeans, metallic jeans, coated jeans, snake print jeans, lace print jeans and the list continues on and on in size 23-32 with a good selection in each category. You have to be careful though because some pairs have fabric irregularities that are marked with red tape. Check your merchandise carefully but at $41 per pair of jean that normally goes in the $200+ category, it is a great price.

Overall some great merch at this sale for a great price as long as the size is right for you. If you're in need of jeans -  the price is right and sizing is available. Otherwise if you are a Small, this is your sale. Some of the merchandise looks a bit dated but there are definitely some fun things to find.
